Marcel den Hartog

I hold a Bachelors degree in commercial economics from Hogeschool van Amsterdam, The Netherlands. I received my Masters in Business Administration from Nyenrode University, The Netherlands and the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration, University of Rochester, New York, U.S.A.

Professional experience

During my professional career at Royal Ahold I held various senior management positions in buying & merchandising.

I was active in the commercial area of fresh goods e.g. meat, fish, poultry etc as well as
the area of branded groceries f.e. beer and soft drinks. During several years I was posted as an expat in South East Asia managing the buying and merchandising activity in Malaysia.

My last position was Buying Director A-brand suppliers within the European Sourcing entity.
I was responsible for the development and execution of the supplier cooperation program. This responsibility covered merchandising activities in Norway, Sweden, Baltic States, Poland, Czech Republic, The Netherlands, Belgium, Spain and Portugal.

I left Ahold April 1st 2004 for a sabbatical leave. At the year-end I established
Den Hartog Consulting.
